Francis Gurney identified: sixth son of Henry Gurnay of Great Ellingham and West Barsham, b. 1581
Francis Gurney was born 13 September 1581 at West Barsham Hall, Norfolk, the sixth son of Henry Gurnay, Esq., of Great Ellingham and West Barsham, by his wife Ellen Blennerhassett. Henry had twelve children; the family was old Norfolk gentry with an armigerous pedigree, and a sixth son had little to inherit.
