Negative result
No John among the seven St Benet Fink children of Francis and Anne Browning, 1619–1637
No John appears among the seven children baptised to Francis Gurney and his second wife Anne at St Peter le Poer with St Benet Fink, London, 1619–1637: Dorithy (2 March 1619), Roger (20 December 1621), Frances (18 January 1625), Francis (13 November 1628), Lucretia (28 October 1630), Thomas (19 April 1636), and Margaret (28 July 1637). The silence supports rather than undercuts Candidate B: if John was Francis's son, he must belong to the first marriage, which is where the East Dereham entry places him.

- Limitations: Index level: the St Benet Fink register images were not examined, and there is no printed Harleian Society register for the parish (vol. 44 is St Mary le Bow; vols 38-41 are St Bene't Paul's Wharf).; The series begins in 1619, so a child of Francis born in London before that date would not appear; Candidate B places John's birth at East Dereham in any case.; Daniel Gurney and Bernau both record that the Anne Browning child list is fragmentary, so the seven indexed baptisms are not certainly the whole second family.

- Supports Finding Entry E is probably John Gurney-1's baptismThe absence of a John in the second family means any son John must belong to the first — which is where Entry E puts him.
