The chronology tension this absorbed no longer arises: the entry it applied to is withdrawn
This analysis absorbed a chronology tension in the East Dereham reading — an estimated baptism date of about 1609/10 preceding the 23 September 1611 marriage of Francis and Margaret by a year or two — by observing that the register's margin of error reached the wedding, and that a child born shortly before the parents' marriage was common enough in the period to pass without remark. The tension no longer arises. The entry it applied to is withdrawn, and the register years that would hold a first child of the 1611 marriage are lost with no second witness, so no baptism date is in evidence to be reconciled. The period norm remains sound and is retained here because any future East Dereham reading in the same window will meet the same question.
