Evidence
Plymouth/Taunton primary record: Ruth (Gurney) m. John Bundy, 9 Jan 1676
The Plymouth Colony court's printed record of town returns and the Taunton town's own vital records both carry the 9 January 1676 marriage of John Bundy to a Ruth Gurney of Mendon, under the colonial spellings "Surney" and "Garney"; Charles Henry Pope's 1900 compilation independently records the same marriage but misnames the bride "Jane."
Date: 9th of January, 1676 (Plymouth Colony court return / Taunton town record)
Why this conclusion
- Supports Finding John Jr. and Ruth's Mendon household, 1671-1676The Plymouth/Taunton primary record fixes the remarriage date and corrects Pope's bride name.
